Contacts app problems

Does anyone else have to close out of CONTACTS at least 20 times a day? The only way I can add people to groups is by closing out, and reopening EACH TIME I WANT TO ADD A CONTACT TO A GROUP.

Also, when adding new contacts, it closes out multiple times before I am done adding all the information so I need to save at each line of information.

It costs me hours each day trying to work around this app. The worst contact app I have ever used. Please tell me I am not alone. And yes, all my Mac updates are up do date.

Creating New Contact crashes repeatedly


When creating a new contact the record crashes repeatedly so that I need to begin again repeatedly. This problem has occurred over the past 2-3 years. I thought with a new computer, a Macbook Air running the most recent system, it would correct the problem but it has not.

I have spent HOURS online with Apple support and have been handed up and up the chain with tech staff with no resolution. I gave multiple Case numbers for problems and can find them in my previous communications if needed.

Forgive for not running any troubleshooting on my own but I run an international charity for a rare disease, have limited resources, and am not very tech savvy, relying on Apple support for my help.

This has been a problem since I bought the Mac a couple years ago.

Not me either, you have not described any troubleshooting you have done. I suspect you may have either installed some software (possibly a third party AV, cleaning, VPN or other app) that is causing the problem or you have not attempted any troubleshooting steps. I would begin by doing the following:


It will help us get a good idea of what is causing your problem if you provide a report of your system, that way we do not have to play 20 questions with you. Once you have you downloaded the app and installed it, please run the report and save it. This report will help us get a good idea what has been installed on your system and help us be able to diagnose what may be wrong.
