I am referring to features or capabilities that do not exist in the M1. Please site specific programs and, if possible, how they benefit. The M2 has speed improvements or a few more cores, but in this case I'm interested in whether MacOS or any applications will be able to do things that aren't possible without an M2. The old "not available with M1" exception footnote that might appear sometime in the future.
for Pro and Max models it distills down to this:
There is no single feature or capability on M2 models not available on M1 models.
I wanted the larger 16-in screen, but don't Edit Videos, so don't care about tiny increments in processing power. I bought an Apple-refurbished 16-in MacBook Pro M1 Pro model right after the M2s became the standard. Saved a bunch of money, and lost NOTHING, except that I have the proverbial "last year's model".

the feature size of the die was reduced, and a few enhancements made. Enough extra speed was obtained that the entry-level models can now access memory at a higher speed. 13-in M2 will be slightly faster overall than 13-in M1, because it can get to memory faster.
Other than the memory speed on the base M1 vs M2 model, there is no single feature or capability on M2 models not available on M1 models.
It's more of an evolutionary change than a revolutionary change. Apple is always improving their product and "future proofing" too.

As of Summer 2023, do any applications benefit from features unique to the Apple M2?
