Bluetooth Audio in Car stuttering

Since upgrading from my iPhone XS to the iPhone 14 Pro Max I've been having issues where if my phone is in the car paired to my stereo sitting in it's cradle while moving that the audio will stutter. I've found that removing it from the phone holder I have will fix the issue. I think it may be a issue with the Accelerometer or Gyroscope being over stimulated by vibrations or bouncing on bumpy roads. Anyone else seeing these issues or found a way to fix it?

Hey there drevvin,

We do not believe it's due to the bumpy roads as you mentioned it still works when taken off of the cradle. As it still works in your hand, we believe this points to the cradle itself.

We'd like to learn more about what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

  1. Have you already tried a cradle in your car that's more stable than the one you're using?
  2. Does your iPhone Bluetooth audio stutter when using it in any other location other than your car, or even when using it with another car?
  3. Since you have a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.5. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then update: Update your iPhone or iPad We also recommend checking for any possible firmware updates for your Bluetooth car stereo with the manufacturer.

Cheers!

drevvin,

It can be tough to say what would cause the issue but it sounds like you've definitely isolated it to the cradle itself. We would recommend testing with a different cradle if you can purchase another one or even borrow one from a friend or family member for testing purposes. That may help say for sure if the issue is specifically being caused or triggered by that cradle.

We hope this helps!

Cheers.

Sorry it took so long to get back and answer your questions but as follows.

1) I only have the one cradle but I can say that my iPhone XS did not have the issue using that same cradle for almost the life of the device.

2) It does not and even as a test now when it starts in the cradle I take it down and put it on my lap or in my pocket and it stops immediately.

3) Fully up to date on software and the head unit is no longer updated as its a 2013 Pioneer stock stereo that was included with the Scion FR-S.

I am wondering now what could be triggering it again now as it seems to have something to do with motion (Accelerometer or Gyroscope) as when I put it in my pocket or in my lap it stops or maybe a issue with the always on screen keeping the phone searching for movement for the eye tracking/faceid
