Is there a bug in IOS 16.5 that effects syncing songs from a PC itunes library?

I've recently updated to IOS16.5 on my iPhone 12. In my PC iTunes library, I have 10689 songs in multiple playlists. After synching today my iPhone iTunes library only synched 9013 songs with the rest "grayed" out in my iPhone. I tried again and this time only 8798 synched. And yet again I synched and only 8733 synched. I've never had this problem with earlier IOS versions. All 10689 songs in my PC iTunes library are ticked to sync with my iPhone.

Is there a bug either in IOS16.5 or iTunes? Please advise. Thank You

Hello Frostyduo,

The first thing we recommend checking is the available storage on the iPHone. Tap on Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Confirm there is available storage.

Also confirm that the tracks that are greyed out are playable on the PC.

If all the tracks are playable, and the sync process outlined here at Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support continues to result in only some of the tracks syncing, we would suggest reaching out to Apple Support here: Get Support

They will be in the best position to assist further.

Cheers.

Thanks for your reply

I have an iPhone 12 with 256Gb storage. There is no storage shortage capacity on my iPhone. Even before this happened I still had over 98Gb of storage.

Every song is playable on my iTunes library in my PC.

I have been syncing songs from my PC iTunes library to every iPhone I have previously held including this iPhone 12 which I have owned for almost 2 years. This issue only happened AFTER I upgraded to IOS 16.5 from a version of IOS 15.something. I had held off from upgrading to 16.5 because I read that it had issues but was told it was a must do to avoid known security issues.

What I’ve since noticed after I reported this is that the “greyed out” songs on my iPhone disappeared completely after my 3rd sync when only 8733 songs showed. Before the first sync I had I over 10675 songs in my iPhone with all being playable.

I’ve been syncing my iPhone to my PC iTunes library for several years absolutely correctly without an issue.

I see someone also replied to me saying “Me too” so I appear not to be alone with this issue.

I'll take your advice and now contact Apple Support.

I appreciate you taking the time and effort to reach out to me. Thank you very much.

Kind regards.
