What is "Photo Stream"? I already use iCloud to store my photos.

Photo Stream is the service that automatically syncs photos across all participating Apple devices. If you already use iCloud you don't need to be concerned about that service's impending termination.

Photo Stream With Photo Stream going away, suppose I don' want all of my photos to go to iCloud. I would only want new photos going forward to be stored in iCloud. I do not want to pay for a bunch of cloud storage that I don't want or need, but I do want recent photos to be shared between devices.

If my photos are being automatically saved to iCloud then all photos should be saved correct? I’m not even sure what my photo stream is. Can anyone clarify please. please explain what iPhotos is. I have auto updates of my photos into iCloud so I’m confused about this iPhotos and if I need to do anything. Thx
