How do Podcasts work? Is there a monthly fee for listening to podcasts?

Apple podcast app on Tesla I signed into my Apple ID on the Apple podcast app on my Tesla. It lists the shows I have subscribed to but it doesn’t recognize the premium subscriptions I have paid for (ie Wondery+). As a result it won’t let me play episode that are early access nor will it play the ad-free versions of the show. Is anyone else having this issue?

Some podcasts may offer subscription content but the overwhelming majority have no cost
