In iOS 16.5 and associated Apple OS’s, is there a way to choose which device is the HomeKit hub?

…and how can I keep my HomePods from going offline?

I am not willing to start a new home or massively reset every device.

Why Home app does not allow to set which device to be the active Homekit hub? In a setup of a large house with 7 apple tvs and 12 homepods and many homekit devices that connect by bluetooth the fact that the homekit hub is roaming randomly is breaking the connection to these devices. Apple tvs can be set to not connect as a home hub but one by one using their remotes, so some footwork is involved. Alas homepods cannot be set to stop connecting as home hubs. The only way around that I found is to not connect the homepods to the cloud account, but to a different one. This solves the roaming homekit hub problem but limits the functionalities of the home pods. Ideally if home app would allow to controll which device is the Homekit Hub these problems would be easily solved even when far away from home. Also as from time to time apple tv tend to get stuck and need a hard reset, it would easy to switch to another apple tv through the Home app and remotely solve any issues with Homekit not working.

Homekit hub and no response on devices. I have three ATV's an OG homepod and a homepod mini, all on my iCloud account. I set up my homekit devices while a particular ATV (hub) was connected. Currently, the Connected hub has changed on its own, and most of my devices do not respond when this alternate Hub is Connected. I can block the internet to the other hubs offline, forcing homekit to select my preferred hub, and all devices respond. How do I get the "No response" devices to connect with the alternate hub so homekit can jump back and forth to all five potential hubs and still have devices connected?

HomePod automations stopped working in iOS 17 I’ve updated my HomeKit to iOS 17 which has caused my automations to stop. Particularly, my arrive and leave settings. I have deleted the automations and created new ones. This still hasn’t resolved the issue.

There isn't a way to give one home hub priority. You can turn off power for available hubs until the one you want to be active takes over, then turn the others back on again. Sometimes rebooting the router will also help with devices that are unresponsive.
