Can't reject calls on iPhone 14 pro with always on display

Basically what it says in the title, I am unable to decline calls while my screen is locked since I use the always on display feature and when I double click the lock button it dims the display while the call is still ringing instead of declining the call forcing me unlock the phone, pull down from the dynamic island to hit the reject button (I'd prefer not to add the call to reminders or send the caller a text message, I just want to decline!)
