iPad with white shadow.
Why does my iPad Air have this white shadow? It's only visible when the screen is dark, but it's not noticeable when the app that I’m using has a light background.
I have attached the photo here for reference.

Conventional LCD screens use an edge-lit backlight. This screen technology often uses a continuous row of LEDs placed around the edges of the screen - the light being distributed across the entire rear surface of the screen using a backlight diffuser.
When a “black” screen is viewed at high screen brightness, in a darkened environment with no ambient light, it is not unusual to see some patches of backlight “bleed”. When viewed in normal lighting conditions, this effect is usually invisible.
As described by you - and illustrated in your photo - what you see is likely nothing more than an expected manufacturing variation for this type of screen technology. If you see pronounced backlight bleed, or if the effect is visible in normal ambient lighting, only then might you need to consider the possibility of a screen defect.
