In the US it costs $69 USD. The Apple Store will replace it for you if they have it in stock. I have had a battery replaced at the Apple Store and it was done within an hour, however, this timing can vary from location to location.

Assuming the battery is in stock, the wait depends on how busy things are at the time that you bring the phone in. I've had the battery replaced while I waited in about 30 minutes at a local authorized shop, but I was probably lucky.

The Apple Store is usually busy, so it might be a few hours or even the next day before you get the phone back.
