Move Imported bookmarks out of imported folder to "root level"

I'm on ventura 13.3 and latest Safari (iMac) and have imported bookmarks. They now sit in an "Imported 5/29/23" folder. There are multiple folders inside the imported folder that house my curated bookmarks. I would like these folders to be at the "root level" in bookmarks -- IOW, I just want them all out from inside the parent Imported folder. All the help says "drag and drop" but whether I'm on the sidebar, or the main bookmark page (Bookmarks => edit bookmarks) I can not get this behavior -- it insists on dropping my folder inside one of the other folders such as Favorites or Tab Group Favorites. I also do not seem to be able to use copy/paste. I can't believe Apple will not let me do this - what am I missing?!

Hello edgetunes2,

We'd be happy to provide you with some information. Dragging and dropping is the correct way to organize your bookmarks. However, it does have some nuance.

When you drag a bookmark you can do three things with it, put it into another folder, move it within the current folder, and move it up a folder. It sounds like you'd like to move those folders up.

To do that, click and drag each folder to the bottom of the Imported folder. You should see a blue line with a circle on the left side. While still holding the folder move your curse to the left side, the circle should move over just a bit. If it doesn't do it the first time, try to move your cursor around a bit just above the dropdown arrow for the folder below it. When in the right place, drop the folder.

Thanks.
