Can i exchange my Apple watch if it was given as a gift? I want to update it but don’t know if i can because it was a gift?

When did you receive the watch? Your tag line suggests you have Apple Watch 6, which was discontinued over 2 years ago. You can trade the watch in and use the trade value towards a newer Apple Watch, but unless the watch was purchased brand new within the last 14 days, you can't just exchange it.
