Ace1018, none of your suggestions are helpful. Obviously before people write in this community they would have tried everything like updating macOS etc. The problem is Mac Mail and Apple needs to fix it! I've had this problem since updating to Sonoma and it's driving me nuts since all my clients send me attachments.

I find this problem on my Iphone and Mac. My speed is 100mps and it still takes forever to download a file size of 54kb. I am a businessman and find it really frustrating.

This is a apple problem when is this going to be resolved

[Been with Apple since the early 90's and] I have the same issue with a brand new Mac Studio, macOS Sonoma, same problem on IOS17 - so it's not the hardware, it's this clunky, outdated, Apple Mail program.

Takes 5mins to download and preview a 50kb file - what the actual _ _ _ _!

*Here's a radical suggestion, try separating all the attachments into it's own area, instead of continually burying them in endless conversation threads – just a thought.

Given the previous complaint was back in August, I'm not expecting a solution anytime soon...

May I ask you to recommend an alternative mail software? Maybe it's time to switch to Microsoft Outlook ? (shiver)

So... I did a MASSIVE cleanup of my emails (I'm on Mac Mail)... all folders and bins... deleted large emails, spam and really trimmed as much 'fat' as I could and so far things are working better. Hope this helps someone.

I have the same problem. It is with Oulook for Mac. All sofware are up to date. It works fine with legacy Outlook but not the new look. Any suggestions?
