Quick Start is what you should have used. It is a product of Apple, making it reliable and dependable. Use Quick Start to Transfer Data to a new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
No the Author could not have used Quick Start. This is because the Author moved data from an Android phone to an iPhone. Quick Start only works from iPhone to an iPhone transfer.
The Author has correctly used the “Move to iOS’ app to transfer data from an Android based phone to an iPhone.

Move to iOS only moves data that is local to the phone. Email syncs from mail servers, it is not local to the phone. Likewise for calendars, contacts, most notes, and reminders. All of these are synced from a server or servers, so they are not moved by Move to iOS but instead sync from the server once the server is set up. It also doesn’t move apps themselves, only app data for apps that are compatible between Android and iOS. Apps are downloaded from the App Store.
You can setup your email account(s) on your iPhone using the Mail app and the data should begin syncing form your email account provider’s servers.

Could have sworn I saw iPhone in the title.
No Problem. I had to check twice as well.

Thanks Axel, that’s exactly what I ended up doing, and it worked. The “move to iOS” app definitely has it’s issues: not easy breezy as Apple would like one to believe
You are welcome. Glad that you were able to resolve the Mail account issues.
