M2 MacBook Air disconnecting from WiFi
We have a new M2 MacBook Air that was repeatedly disconnecting from wifi while a friend was visiting recently. It had not been doing it before and it appears to have gone back to normal after they left. Looking at the WiFi details under the wifi icon in the menu, I noticed that while the friend was here, the PHY Mode was showing 802.11n. Before and after his visit, it was 802.11ac.
He has a pretty new Windows laptop and a Pixel 6, so both of those devices should have connected at 802.11ac or better. Our routers are only a year old and are 802.11ax capable. Our other 2 Macs are intel Macs, normally connecting at 802.11ac (but showing 802.11n during his visit) and did not have this problem. Is it possible that this new M2 Mac simply can’t handle the older protocol or could it be something else? I can’t find any info that would indicate that should be a problem.
Anybody have any thoughts about this?
Thanks
