Predictive text suggesting weird characters

Whenever I am texting or typing, my phone tries to replace normal characters with strange characters, for example, “the” becomes “thë” and I don’t know why.

I removed all other language and leave just English as default for one and half month now.

Weird suggestion in Turkish still showing up.

I don't even know Turkish.

I'm sure the issue is on their end.

Happening to me again starting yesterday, before the latest update, and am typing on my MacBook Pro. Have had people texting me complaining their texts are giving gibberish that they have to correct. This is not due to an update or any change in my use of my devices. This comment is just for corroboration with others' complaints; I will submit bug report.

Vent on: In my opinion, for what it's worth, "text choices are 'based on your past conversations, writing stye, and even websites you visit in Safari,'" is nonsense! Spelling correction should be based on standard dictionaries, not designed to perpetuate people's errors! We have enough of that going on owing to lack of proper language instruction in schools, and contagion in social media. Vent off.

Hello CicadaSong,

According to the "Use predictive text" section of How to use Auto-Correction and predictive text on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, text choices are "based on your past conversations, writing stye, and even websites you visit in Safari."

If you don't use predictive text, you can turn it off with these instructions:

To turn predictive text off or on:
1. Touch and hold the smile emoji  or the globe icon globe icon.
2. Tap Keyboard Settings, then turn Predictive on or off.
Or go to Settings > General > Keyboard, and turn Predictive on or off.

You can also reset the keyboard dictionary to return it to default settings at Settings  > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary. All custom words and shortcuts that your iPhone has learned, or that you proactively entered, will be deleted.

All Our Best.

Active keyboard: English (US) and Indonesian.

Dictionary: English (US), Indonesian-English, Apple Dictionary.

In Indonesian I use word "cuma" a lot.

Predictive text sometimes suggests words like in Turkish.

When I look for "cuma" in Turkish, it exists, it means "Friday".

In Indonesian, "cuma" means "only".

Is that why Apple Keyboard suggesting/predicting word in Turkish?

Hi, you’re ignoring the fact that there is a very serious bug here that’s affecting multiple users. Multiple users are reporting that they are getting weird characters and languages. They don’t speak. And you’re simply telling people to reset their learned dictionary. The suggestions that are showing up or never typed by these users, I’m having the same issue. There is some sort of bug with auto suggest that is leaking words from other people.
