Can't open RW2 files from Panasonic TZ200

I'm using latest version of Ventura. A couple of days ago in system report, I read that TZ200 was supported. But I still couldn't view or edit RW2 files. Today, I checked system report again, and the TZ200 is no longer there. So frustrating. Especially as I only bought camera last week.

Apple's Support document is still listing the TZ200: Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura - Apple Support

Which version of Ventura do you have installed - "the latest" may not be the current version, if your Mac did not show the last update? Is there an update listed in the System Preferences?

The TZ200 is still appearing in the system report on my Mac.

With Ventura 13.3.1 (a) on an M2 Mac Mini Pro, I am not showing System Information > Raw Support for the LUMIX DMC-TZ200. My entries end with the TZ110, though support is shown for the FZ200, ZS200 and ZS220.

Apparently the TZ200 is also known as the ZS200 model, and the ZS200 RAW support may be the reason these TZ200 images are displaying in Finder, Quick Look, and Preview for me.

From this TZ200 Review:

Thank you for your reply. I am using Ventura 13.3.1(a) and the camera is the Panasonic Lumix DC-TZ200D. Just checked again. It is indeed listed. (My mistake - I was looking at the models with DMC prefix which are listed further down.)

This is what I'm getting:

If I try switching the JPEG + RAW files to RAW only (Image>,Use RAW as Original), Photos gets stuck and I have to use Force Quit to close the programme.

Just for the record, I'm also using Ventura 13.3.1 (a), and the DC-TZ200 is listed in System information > Raw Support but not the DC-TZ200D. I wonder if this is part of the problem.

I tried to preview a RW2 file from the Panasonic Lumix DC-TZ200D and it wouldn't show. When imported into Apple Photos I get the same problem as you.

So, you can either wait for Apple Support of find a workaround (new camera or new software).

I think the best workaround is to install Adobe DNG Converter and convert from RW2 to DNG before you import into Apple Photos. That would mean copying from the card/camera to a new folder and running the converter, then dragging the DNG files into Apple Photos.

I thought Adobe Camera Bridge might help, but it only let's your browse/preview files and not edit them, so it's not a solution really.

Just want to let you know that I have the same problem. I can confirm that simply changing exif info like this:

❯ exiftool P1010038.RW2 | grep TZ
Camera Model Name : DC-TZ200D
❯ exiftool P1010038.RW2 -model=DC-TZ200
    1 image files updated
❯ exiftool P1010038.RW2 | grep TZ
Camera Model Name : DC-TZ200

makes apple photos.app recognize and edit perfectly the picture :(

I submitted feedback to Apple, but I'm not holding my breath honestly
