contacts won't create new list

1. Create a new list. It doesn't matter what you name it because it will revert to "untitled list". That's OK
2. Select the list, then go to Edit/Rename List. You can now rename it to anything you want.

Once you have have created a new list with the name “untitled list”:

Select the “untitled list"

Select Edit/Rename List

This will let you rename the list and the name will stick.

NOTE: After you first create the “untitled list” you must unselect it first, for example by selecting another list (or by quitting contacts). Now when you select it next time you will be able to use Rename List to change its name.

There is no option available for "edit - rename list". It is not under the edit menu and not in the dropdown when i right lick the list. I've seen many posts about this problem, why no resolution?

MacBook Pro, M1, Sonoma 14.2.1, almost 1 free terabyte of icloud space, 500gb of free disk space, have restarted app and Mac, nothing.

I've asked your post be relocated to the Ventura forum. Ventura is newer than any "earlier operating systems."

Once you put a name in the list you can then rename without issue.
