Replacement of SIM card for iPhone 7+

I bought my iPhone from Consumer Cellular and they recently sent me a new SIM card stating that my old one is outdated. I can’t get the SIM card tray to open when using the tool sent with the card nor with a paper clip. If I have to take it to an Apple retailer, will they charge me to swap out the old one?

You should visit an Authorised Apple Service Provider ore Apple Store next to your place, since this seems to be a hardware issue, and they have to tools to fix the problem.

The repair charge might depend on the amount of work, maybe give them a call and ask for an estimate.
