Every so often when I'm typing a text message the letters CB appear in the middle of the text. I don't think I hit any keys by accident (I type with one finger). This question was asked in 2019 but the only answer suggest a phone reset, which I don't want to do. I have an iPhone 12 with IOS 16.4.1. It's not critical that this is resolved but it sure as heck is annoying.

It sounds as if you might be triggering a text replacment. Go to Settings>General>Keyboards>Text Replacement and see if some combination of letters is set to produce "CB".

Good suggestion but the only text replacement is OMW for 'on my way'. Thanks though! I didn't know text replacement was an option.
Sorry that wasn't the answer. Unfortunately, I have not other bright ideas. Hopefully, someone else will stop by with something.
