Desktop folders and docs have disappeared

Hello,

Everything in my desktop in my MacBook Air has disappeared suddenly. I have icloud and the folder in my finder of icloud is empty. I have looked in my icloud in my browser and it is empty. These are important documents that I have been trusting icloud to store. I have restarted my laptop and nothing. How can I get them back?

I have tried all the troubleshooting that has been suggested here without luck.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.3

When you use iCloud to store your folders, they frequently are copied just to iCloud.

Use Devon Technologies Easy Find to see if they are at least visible to your computer.

If they aren't, you should go to http://ww.w.icloud.com/ and see if any of the backed up folders ended up there.

If not, you will need to go to a data recovery company to help you locate where the files went.

This is why I don't like to depend on iCloud for backup, but instead use external hard drives, and know where and when I backup my data.
