MacBook Air Hard Case safe or not?

The raised edges of a hardshell cover for MacBook doesn't allow it to close perfectly so, Is it safe to put Hard cases on MacBook? Does it have any harmful effects on the hinge of the laptop?

FWIW, I would not use a hard case. The computer already has a hard case. I use a computer backpack to protect the computer if I want to travel with my computer. Heat disapation is through the case, a hard case may impede heat dissipation.

If your third party hard case is interfering with the computer closing, it is obvious that the case should not be used.
