Replacing low-res audio tracks with high-res in FCP timeline

I have some low quality .m4a audio tracks in my FCP timeline that I wish to replace with higher-quality .aiff tracks.

The audio tracks are heavily-edited (various cuts, volume adjustments etc.) and I do not want to re-edit the whole project by hand...

Any tips?

The reconnect function doesn’t work to connect to the new file on the hard drive?
