Pause Screen Recording - missing?

Hello folks,

I am running on Mac OS Ventura 13.3.1 and I cannot find a way to PAUSE my screen recording while using Quicktime Player.

Has that functionality been removed?

That function is not available in QuickTime Player, and I don’t recall that it ever was.

Instead, you can stop a recording and then start a new recording later. Or leave it running and edit out later.

It was available previously. There are YouTube videos demonstrating this functionality as recently as 2021. I'm not sure why the functionality was removed but it would be nice to have it back. The other options mentioned above are not as convenient as simply pausing the recording. Many thanks for your time and attention.

Me too. The 'Pause Recording' function was previously available. I found it most useful. My notes at the time were:- Once recording press 'Escape' to show a pop up menu. Press Alt/Option to show Pause symbol. Press 'Red Spot' to continue recording. I don't know which OS version this was.
