I have a new iMac 24" and a iPod shuffle. I want to load podcasts on my iPod shuffle. Using the program PODCASTS, I can set up a library, BUT how do I download podcasts onto my iPod shuffle? It worked fine in iTunes on my old iMac, but PODCASTS doesn't see the iPod even though it shows up in the Finder. Tell me the truth, Apple really doesn't want to support iPod shuffles anymore OR tell me how to make it work.

Hi there! I was able to make this work. First of all, the iPod shuffle will only recognize podcasts that have been physically downloaded to your computer. So in the podcast app, find a few episodes you like, hover over them to highlight them in gray, then click the down arrow.
From there, open up the Finder. You will see your iPod shuffle on the sidebar, under "Locations." Click on it and go to the podcasts tab. From there you should be able to manually sync the podcasts that you have downloaded.

crankeley, I'm a diehard iPod Shuffle user, removing 'listened-to' podcasts and downloading new podcasts onto it each morning. Specifically, I put the day's topical news reports at the top, then less-topical more-entertaining podcasts after those.
With your method are you able to manually arrange podcasts into a preferred order? ISTM I was unable to manage that, and so went the Retroactive/iTunes route under Ventura instead. Since I'm pretty sure I have to wipe the Shuffle any time I try to switch between the two methods, it'd be nice to know if someone has met with success before I attempt another round of experimenting....
