Music Playlists Are Suddenly Empty

Earlier today, I was trying to hard-sync my iphone with my Music library.

I realized that the "Sync Library" setting was on (not sure why) and so I turned it off. When I did that, two things happened.

First, the music files on my phone were all deleted (no big deal, they're on my MacBook).

Second, some playlists on my MacBook have had all the songs deleted; the playlists are still there (the titles at least) but the songs are not included. It appears to have only impacted the playlists that were on my phone at the time; other playlists are normal, just as they were.

I would like to get those playlists back. Any thoughts?

This started with my phones a few weeks ago! still no answers. My music was "down loaded" into iphone's 4,6 & 7 so I could play without any connections, cellular or WiFi ! it worked for years & now stopped. One person told me Apple did not remove your music files, but I did a hard copy down load for the very reason mentioned above. They said your device only has the file location in the cloud, but my devise's had no sim or wifi & still played the music. Because of the downloads! Why would Apple remove those files out of my phones. Oh so I made the mistake of checking my other phones which are off line & powered down, when turned on & I activate wifi then I opened itunes some of the play list disappeared right in front of me. Not a word from Apple. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
