Can you sync two clips (video/sound) in iMovie split screen?

E.g, you've got two clips of the same pitch and hit in a softball game, each from a different angle. You want to use them both on a split screen but want to make sure they are synced - i.e., the throw and hit happens at the same time on both sides of the screen. Is there a way to do this other than clumsily dragging around one clip to try to align it by sight? If you can only do it that way, are there more minute controls so that rather than drag it you can move it ever so slightly? I'm using a macbook air. Thanks.

Hi,

Syncing the clips manually is the only way to do it in iMovie.

Put one clip above the other and slide the top clip over a bit. Play the bottom clip in slo mo, using the arrows at the bottom left of your keyboard. When you get to the place where the ball is struck, stop and adjust the playhead with the right and left arrow keys to the exact point where the ball is struck. Then do a Mark/Add Marker to precisely mark the spot. Do the same with the top clip. Then, by sliding the top clip, line up the marker of the top clip with the marker on the bottom clip. They should now be synced so that each clip will play the striking of the ball at the same moment. Then you can use the Split Screen overlay function or the Picture in Picture overlay function to play the two clips side by side.

Expanding the time line out a bit, using the slider above and to the right of the timeline, might help with more precise adjustments.
