Log out disappearance on Twitter when using iPad on Safari

I have had a consistent disappearance of the log out button when on Twitter while on my iPad Pro 11” 2nd generation in the Safari browser. I have followed the Twitter (& other) instructions to the tee, but when I arrive at the last page where the log out is supposed to be, it isn’t there. The reason I know where it’s supposed to be is because I have been able to log off successfully two times this year. I don’t want to leave my account open and if Twitter can’t resolve the issue, I will have to close or delete the Twitter account, which I have had since Twitter came into existence. If anyone knows a work around for this issue, please let me know. I have already spent 2 hours on Google searching for a way out. What a waste of my time.

Hi LittleLady,

You mentioned you're using the Twitter website on Safari. The location of the log off option would be controlled by the Twitter web developers.

If you're also experiencing this issue while using the Twitter app on your iPad, please check out the information and suggestions in the following link, which may help resolve some app issues: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

If an app on your iPhone or iPad doesn't work as expected, try this.

1. Close and reopen the app
Force the app to close. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

2. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or restart your iPad. Then open the app to see if it works as expected.

3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad.

4. Delete the app, then redownload it
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

Get more help
* If the App Store itself is not responding, contact Apple Support for your iPhone or for your iPad.
* If you found the app on the App Store, contact the app developer. If the app is made by Apple or came with your iPhone or iPad, contact Apple Support for your iPhone or for your iPad.
* If you bought the app recently and you no longer want it, you can also request a refund.

If you continue to experience an issue, we would suggest contacting the app developer for further assistance. The "Get more help" part of the above link explains how to contact an app developer, and may be helpful.

Take care.

1ssmith, thank you kindly for your advice. Since I didn’t have the Twitter app and was using the browser at the time of my plea, Safari is where my particular problems started. After writing my plea for help here, I happened to mention my issues to my husband who informed that there have been beaucoup changes made to Twitter by the new owner of which I was unaware because I hate news and avoid it at all costs. But news certainly has come in handy in this regard, so I have installed the Twitter app and will attempt to bypass the issues I’m currently experiencing on Safari. The main reason I have used Twitter for several years is that when I can’t find a way to contact one of the places I do business with, I can usually find them on Twitter and can almost always be assured of receiving a response. Chatting up a bot (on Amazon for example) is a sure way to lose your sanity quickly if you have a problem that doesn’t fit neatly into their criteria. I don’t know if I start using the Twitter app if I will be logged out automatically on Safari, but at this point I’m fairly certain that it’s out of my hands as I had tried all the things you suggested before attempting to send a text message to Twitter for help which didn’t go through. I’m unable now to use Twitter for the primary reason I use Twitter, and can only hope that through the app that I will be successful in sending messages again, or if not, that I will be able to at least close the account altogether. Again, thank you very much for your kind response. ~Cee
