Logic Pro records audio, no sound on playback

This has only happened recently and I can't figure out what I did/am doing wrong. If I record an audio track, whether it's using an audio interface or a microphone, I can record the audio of whatever I'm playing/singing. It shows a visual that suggests the audio has been recorded. However, when I play it back, there's nothing on the track. This is only a recent thing; so I can take audio tracks that had been created before, duplicate them and change plugins and input modes (interface/microphone) and record and play back the audio no problem. But it's creating a new track, or even a new project, where the audio can be recorded, but nothing gets played back. It's extremely frustrating for obvious reasons. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. I don't know if it was a software update that did it or what. I'm just at my wits end and can't find an answer.

Thank you!
