Selective file transfer to new Mac

I just bought a new Mac and want to be very selective about what I transfer from my old Mac. For instance I use an app called Garage Sale and I want the app/all files. I can hook up via WiFi but I am not sure how to proceed.

If you want to be fine grained about what is transferred than you must do it manually & find all the bits & pieces by yourself. Migration assistant is all or nothing when it comes to Applications.

Her are some other things to consider.

  • Wi-Fi can be very slow and corruption may occur. A wired connection is much more reliable.
  • You can use a flash drive to transfer those selected files.
  • Some people recommend that instead of transferring all the existing apps, that they are downloaded and reinstalled instead. This ensures that they are installed cleanly.
