Macbook air operation

My laptop opens up and operates when it is plugged to the charger, once I remove the charger it turns off even when the battery is fully charged… Also when I open it without the charger it opens up shows apple log then midway through the loading bar it shuts off again? What might the problem be?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.6

the first thing I would try would be an SMC reset as well as an NVRAM reset.

please see How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

and also Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

but incase that doesn't help, a 4 year old mac's battery is at the age that it could be OK. but depending on usage patterns, it could also be somewhat depleted. if I were you I would wait until you hear from someone here that is more experienced with hardware issues.
