Stopwatch (not timer) on iPhone Lock Screen

I want to start the stopwatch in the clock app and see it run on the Lock Screen, without using a 3rd party app.

The timer function works that way but for some reason not the stopwatch. Am I missing something?

I think that feature just isn’t there but I’m not sure why.

I have a 3rd party app that does this but I personally like to use as much of the stock apps as possible not to mention the fast access through the control center.

So if you happen to know the solution without a 3rd party app I’d love to hear it.
