Just bought an iMac from Apple refurbished. It came with a Magic Keyboard that is totally inappropriate for a desktop computer. I want to exchange it for a full size keyboard with number keypad. What's my first step?

You won't be able do to an exchange because refurbished Macs from Apple are fixed as to what you get. There's no customizing as there is with a new Mac. You'll have to purchase Magic keyboard with numeric pad from Apple and either sell the original keyboard or keep it as a spare. FWIW, you can purchase a separate numeric keypad from Apple and others. Would be cheaper than buying a new keyboard from Apple.
