Magic Mouse 2 wipes text

I've an odd sort of problem. I'm typing into any sort of text field: MSWord, emailer, even this here discussion field. I put my hand onto the mouse and, just occasionally, the whole field, along with its text, vanishes. It seems to happen when I've moved my hand slightly leftwards as I've placed my hand on the mouse.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and does anyone know of a fix?

While typing text, the cursor jumps back to a spot already typed I have an iPad Pro 12.9” (5th gen) and a Magic Keyboard with touchpad (2nd gen). I spend lots of time typing in Pages and Mail, and the cursor jumps around in the text, moving my insertion point. I am not brushing or clicking on the touchpad (I don’t think)—yet I find myself typing in the wrong place. I have tried to find a way to adjust the touchpad, just to be sure that I’m not hitting it unawares, but there does not seem to be a way to do this on the Magic Keyboard. Is there something I could be doing that moves the cursor without my knowledge? Is there a way to disable the touchpad or turn off shortcut keys that might be redirecting my cursor? Is there some way to make the touchpad and/or keyboard less sensitive to that kind of inadvertent redirection? Basically, is there any advice you can give me on controlling cursor movement? As a writer, I find this annoying, and I’d gladly give up other time-saving features, like shortcuts, to stop it from happening!

Mouse loses focus From time to time my Magic Mouse loses focus. By that I mean the mouse moves around the screen, but won't click on anything. I can tab through menus and make selections using the keyboard, and I can right click menus and arrow down to a selection and use the keyboard to initiate it, but the mouse won't select, or double click on anything.

Can't say I've ever heard of the problem and there's no setting for the mouse to perform a delete.

You can try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. That will sometimes fix anomalies.
