iTunes vs apple music

is iTunes match still a viable way to access my music library on my iMac across my other devices without subscribing to apple music?

Sync downloaded music from Itunes with Apple Music Subscription I am currently using Spotify (I perviously tried 3 months free with Apple music) and my one bug bear with both is being able to sync music I have downloaded over years (not all just the albums I can't find on either service) with my streaming service. I have been reading that you can do it with Apple however not sure I can do it. I have an old Macbook (2011 running High Sierra) so already I think there is compatibility issues but if I wanted to do this would it just be a question of buying a newer Macbook, desktop etc then subscribing to Apple Music then also subscribing to Itunes match?

Apple Music and Itunes Match I have both Apple Music and itunes Match - What happens if I cancel Apple Music but keep itunes Match? Can I still sync my music library across all my devices. I would like to be able to listen to my music from PC, Windows Laptop, Ipad mini, or iphone 8. Thanks for helping me understand so I can decrease some monthly expenses during this inflation thing!

Music Library on Windows PC now unavailable without Apple Music subscription? Years ago I ripped hundreds of my CDs to iTunes on our Windows PC (because my Mac didn't have a CD drive). The Music Library would sync to my Mac, iPad, and iPhone, as I was logged into all with my Apple ID. I did not have an Apple Music subscription at that time, and it synced beautifully. A year or so ago I took an Apple Music subscription to share a playlist temporarily. I cancelled that subscription recently. Since I cancelled my subscription, I can no longer access my Music Library on my Apple devices. All that music in my Library I ripped is trapped on the Windows device, but will not sync to my Apple/IOS devices. It seems as though Apple now wants me to pay to listen to my own music which is already ripped on iTunes on the PC. Something must have changed during the past year when I was paying Apple monthly, and didn't notice the change. Seems iTunes for Windows and an Apple ID, with ICloud turned on is not enough to sync a music library, unless I purchased the music directly from Apple. Is there a way I can access this Music Library without paying Apple?

Hi,

Yes. iTunes Match is still viable if you don't want Apple Music. By the way, Apple Music includes the features of iTunes Match . If you decide to subscribe to Apple Music in the future , the transition would be seamless as both use the iCloud music library.
