“Adult Family Member Required” pop-up

Hi all.

I’m having issues setting up my own Family Sharing, showing this pop-up that I need to ask a parent to set up Family Sharing. I shared with my ex partner’s Family Sharing service, though now that I’m trying to set up my own, I keep seeing the pop-up. I’ve read a few discussions on others having similar issues and tried following them, but so far none have worked.

I did purchase a new iPad Air just recently and set up all of my billing information as well as my birthday. iCloud details and Apple Pay were all set. Just having trouble starting up my own Family Sharing.

Please help guide me though how I can get the service up and running again. Thanks in advance!

Hello marsjuice,

To set up a new Family Sharing group, make sure you've followed these related steps:

  1. Be sure that you actually left the previous Family Sharing group: Leave Family Sharing - Apple Support
  2. Make sure that your birthdate, reflects an adult (If you are an adult. Keep in mind, you'd need to be an adult to set up Family Sharing.): Update the birth date associated with your Apple ID - Apple Support
  3. If you continue to have issues, make sure you're signed in the iTunes & App Stores and that you're signed in to iCloud under the same account (Settings > [Name] > iCloud and in Settings > [Name] > Media & Purchases).

Should this not resolve the issue, then it would be best to contact Apple Support directly: Contact Apple Support They'd need to take it from here.

Take care.
