Iphone 11 calls cut out

We use our own iPhone all the time, and definitely understand needing it to work for phone calls without any issues. Let's start with confirming more details to better understand what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

1. When did this start to occur?
2. Is there anything connected to your iPhone when this occurs?
3. Does it also occur if you test using a headset during a call?
4. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPhone
5. Since you have a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.3.1. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.

it started less than a week ago - suddenly for no apparent reason.

there is nothing other than the apple watch6 connected.

have not tried it with headphones attached. Maybe something i look at but the conditions that occur seems too odd.

i had already restarted the phone.

phone us at its latest ios.

i did take the cover off, powered it down and used an air dust spray can and blew out the speakers, mike and power connector. Replaced the cover with a different type. So far ive had 2 phone calls and it has not happened during the calls. I will keep using it to see if the problem reoccurs or its just a coincidence.
