Hello Poppies50,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have questions about your Mail not working as expected, and we'd like to help. There are a few things to look into, to see what may be causing this.

Do you notice this with multiple mailboxes, or just one?

When you restart your device, does this help at all? Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple
logo.

The following article may also to be able to help, as it walks through steps on what to do If you can't receive email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

A few things to check to start, with help from that article:

* When you make an iOS or iPadOS backup in iCloud or iTunes, it backs up your mail settings, but not your email. If you delete or change your email account settings, previously downloaded emails might be removed from your device.
* Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet.
* Check with your email service provider to find out if there's a service outage.
* If you can't access your email, or you can't send and receive messages with your @icloud.com email address, learn what to do.

Also, is your device updated? If not, the following link can help with this: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Let us know if this helps.

Regards.
