Why is my microphone for sending voice/audio texts not working in my Messages app? I had no problem recording and sending voice texts in the past. Recently the microphone stopped working. I read solutions to past posts regarding this problem (i.e. restarting my phone several times) and the microphone still does not work. Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. To help troubleshoot this behavior, we recommend to temporarily turn off dictation and to turn it back on. From there, let's test and see if that helps resolve this issue.
To disable dictation, you can go to Settings > General > Keyboards > toggle off "Enable Dictation." Then, wait a few seconds and turn on "Enable Dictation."
If that doesn't help, please ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS 16.3.1. Having the latest iOS version helps provide software improvements that may help.

Hi bryanr14. Thank you for your reply and help. My problem has been solved. The actual culprit was that some how I missed that during a past iOS upgrade Apple changed the placement of the audio text microphone to below the text box. I kept trying to hold the microphone icon in the text box. Yesterday, a friend enlightened me on the change. Thank you again.
