Apple Watch stops charging after 9.3.1

Apple Watch SE2 stops charging before full on 3rd party charger and on charging Apple puck. Restarting helps but doesn’t solve the problem. I’ve cleaned, checked ports etc. Anyone else have this issue since 9.3.1?

Ok if it is that new and If all settings seem normal but behaviour is irrational there is a progressive hierarchy of  remedies. Hopefully you will not need to go to the end of the list.

First force restart the Watch

i.e. press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.

Then, although it may seem irrelevant, while it is restarting Force Restart the paired iphone   Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

You may also want to make sure the software on the watch and iphone  are both up to date to the same level. Updates are in pairs.

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Test it for a while. If it is still misbehaving... Unpair and set up again

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

and then set up without restoring the backup

Set up your Apple Watch – Apple Support (UK)

Make sure you are not using VPN or security apps on the iPhone.

No, thanks for the reply but I know how optimized charging works and this stops at varying percentages so I ruled that out as well. It charges to full once I restart the watch and this gives me a couple days of no issues then it stops charging after a very brief period again. Another thing that has helped getting it to charge to full is to unplug the charging cord and reset that as well. I have inspected cords and blocks and even moved it to another receptacle but that doesn’t change the eventual negative outcome. The phone charger part has absolutely no issues with charging and because the Apple charger that came with the watch also does this I feel fairly certain it’s the watch and the latest update.
