Finder window following me when I switch spaces (virtual desktops)

I have two 40" external monitors and keep a very organized desktop consisting of very specific locations for my application windows. Finder is one of these applications, which I keep at least one "copy" of open at all times in a set spot within a space on my left monitor (I also use separate Finder windows open elsewhere, so locking Finder entirely to this one space or one monitor will not resolve the issue).

I recently got an M1 MacBook Pro and have upgraded to Ventura. This is my 5th MacBook Pro since the original silver key model back in 2008. I have a Network Administrator background (so I am relatively "tech savvy") and am well-versed in MacOS, which I am a big fan of. So this is not a "user" or PEBCAK error.

As of Ventura, there is a new issue with Finder. I typically use Finder with a few tabs open within it (with each tab sitting on a different key directory for me).

The issue is this - if, while using Finder, I click on a different tab within Finder than the one I started on, and I then switch spaces (virtual desktops) by swiping three fingers to the left, Finder follows me to the space I have just switched to. It only moves over one space, it does not keep going if I continue moving through my spaces.

I do not notice this new behavior with any other application, only Finder.

I do not know what all specific actions cause Finder to follow the user when they switch spaces. I have tested various input combinations - staying within the original Finder tab and copy / pasting a file, switching directories within the original Finder tab, etc., and none of these input combinations generate the issue. The only thing I've confirmed for certain is that if I switch tabs within Finder, Finder will now follow me to the next space over when I switch spaces, forcing me to three finger swipe up and place it back on its original space.

This seems like a minor issue, but I have had to manually migrate my Finder window back to the proper space at least 100 times at this point. My workflow and associated muscle memory are rather embedded after some 15 years.

Here on the Apple discussion forum, I just read a since-closed thread on this issue - the responder indicated this isn't an issue new to Ventura. Yes, it most likely is. At a minimum, it is the result of a new Ventura-specific setting. I have never noticed this in the past, dating back to around Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard), which debuted in 2007.

A workaround for this issue is to ensure that, if you have clicked on a different tab within Finder and are about to switch spaces, be sure to click any other application other than Finder prior to switching spaces - if you do this, and Finder isn't the currently-active window, it won't follow you to the next space.

I presume this is a bug - without enabling some option like locking Finder down to a single space / monitor (which I have no interest in), is there any other method or setting I haven't thought of that will override this bug (or otherwise "repair" the issue)?

Much appreciated,

MacBook Pro 16″

I would look at Mission Control settings, for ex Displays have separate spaces.

None-the-less make some changes and compare your results

Hi, thank you for responding. Yes, my Mission Control settings are fine, they are as they have been for multiple iterations of MacOS now (this issue did not appear until upgrading to Ventura):

Obviously, what I am experiencing is most-likely a bug in Ventura.

Just in case, are there, by chance, any other Ventura-specific settings I am not familiar with (or window management settings that might have been altered in this OS iteration) that might impact this behavior (especially ones involving Finder specifically, as no other application I've found exhibits this problem)?

Thanks much.
