I accidentally removed app from Home Screen.
I don't even know what app it was so I must not have used it much. Is there any history of what was actually on my screen prior to the screwup?

Unfortunately, there is no history of your Home Screen.
But you can see all your purchased and downloaded apps in the App Store. Find the App Store, longpress on it and select Purchased. That shortcut takes you to a list of all the apps you've previously downloaded from the App Store. At the top, you can press "Not on this iPhone" - then you will get an overview of the apps that you had on your iPhone, but no longer have. Maybe you'll find the one you think you're missing.
Apple standard apps, i.e. which are built into the iPhone when you turn it on for the first time, will not be found in that list. But can be downloaded again if you search for them in the App Store.
Also look for apps you are missing in the App Library on your iPhone. On your home screen, swipe as far left as you can until you find App Library
