Hey Meteora1985.
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Are you using the Force Touch trackpad or a mouse? If you're using the trackpad, it may be detecting the double click as a Force Click instead.
The Force Touch trackpad lets you Force click by pressing on the trackpad and then applying more pressure. This allows you to take advantage of added functionality in many apps and system features on your Mac.
In Finder, using the Force click lets you edit the file name. For more information about this and other trackpad features click here:How to use the Force Touch trackpad .
If you notice the issue is related to how firmly the trackpad is pressed, you can change that setting by clicking on the Apple menu > System Settings > Trackpad) For more information, click here: Change Trackpad settings on Mac. The article includes how to make changes to other trackpad settings that may interest you.
If you're using a mouse, check the change the double-click speed to see if that helps. We've provided the steps below. You can also review these steps here:Change mouse tracking, double-click, and scrolling speed on Mac - Apple Support.
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Accessibility in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Click Pointer Control on the right, then do any of the following:
• Adjust how fast you must click for your Mac to recognize a double-click: Drag the slider next to “Double-click speed.”
• Adjust how quickly the pointer moves when you scroll: Click Mouse Options, then drag the slider next to “Scroll speed.”
If you are experiencing a different issue, provide us more details so we can better assist.
Take care.
