Deleting messages and photos on iPad but not iPhone or computers

I am out of space on my iPad. I only use it for streaming or downloading video for long flights. I want to delete the photos and messages but only on this device, not my other Apple devices. If I turn off iMessage and iCloud Photos in the iPad settings and then delete the messages and photos will it delete messages and photos on my other devices?

iPad, iPadOS 15

If you disabled iCloud Photos and iCloud Messages on your iPad, you can delete Photos and Messages from your iPad - without impacting data stored on your other devices, or synchronised to iCloud.

On your iPad:

iPadOS16

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud > [Apps Using iCloud] Show All >

  • Photos > Sync This iPad - set to OFF
  • Messages > Sync This iPad - set to OFF

iPadOS15 and earlier

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud >

  • Photos > iCloud Photos - set to OFF
  • Messages - set to OFF
