How to deauthorize device from Apple Music when it will not be reassigned to a new Apple ID

I subscribe to Apple Music and have five devices authorized. I recently bought a new iPhone resulting in need to deauthorize the old phone. I signed out of my Apple ID on the old phone but the Managing Devices section of Apple Music kept the "remove" button greyed out so I cannot remove authorization for the old phone. Additionally, I had installed Apple Music on a Windows machine but decided to return that machine and purchase a Macbook. I uninstalled everything on the windows machine and returned it for refund. But, Apple Music/managing devices has the "remove" button greyed out for this entry as well. I do NOT need to reassign the devices to a new Apple ID. I just need to deauthorize them but I have not found any guidance for doing this?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.2

Hi there Simply-Happy,

You'll want to be sure you're following the steps below to remove your iPhone as an associated device for your Apple ID purchases:

Remove your associated iPhone or iPad
1. Tap Settings, tap your name, then tap Media & Purchases.
2. Tap View Account. You might be asked to sign in.
3. Scroll down, then tap Remove This Device.

You'll find this information here: View and remove your devices that are associated with Apple ID purchases - Apple Support

If you still have difficulty removing your iPhone from your list of associated devices, you can reach out to Apple Support directly for further assistance. They're best-equipped to take a closer look and provide some additional guidance. This link will help you get started: https://support.apple.com/contact

Take care.
