My husband can’t seem to link to Apple Music through family sharing

We have family sharing set up for us and our two daughters but my husband’s phone can’t seem to share Apple Music and keeps asking him to sign up. He does not have a Sync Library option on his phone but if he tries to log in to Apple Music it just asks him to sign up to a new subscription! I’ve logged in and out of mine (I’m lead susbscription), checked everyone’s IDs, checked all the payment details are right, cjevked everything I can possibly think of plus all suggestions from this platform and it still doesn’t work. This has been an ongoing problem for several years but I’d put it down to him having an ancient phone. He’s now got an SE (2020) so not an issue anymore but very frustrating we’re paying for family sharing and one of us can’t share! Help please

Hey SouthCornwall,

First we'd recommend checking to ensure the family organizer has an Apple Music Family subscription and not an individual subscription. This article explains how: Get an Apple Music family subscription - Apple Support

"irst, set up Family Sharing

Set up Family Sharing on your device. Then invite family members to join your family group.

If you already set up Family Sharing, everyone in your family group will automatically have access to Apple Music after you subscribe.

Already subscribe to Apple Music? Learn how to change to a family subscription.

If someone in the family group already has an individual or student subscription to Apple Music, renewal of that subscription is automatically canceled when they join the family group.

Then follow these steps to subscribe

  1. Open the Apple Music app or iTunes.
  2. Go to Listen Now or For You.
  3. Tap or click the trial offer, (one trial per person or family).
  4. Choose Family, then tap or click Start Trial.
  5. Sign in with the Apple ID and password that you use to make purchases. If you don’t have an Apple ID, choose Create New Apple ID, then follow the steps. If you're not sure if you have an Apple ID, we can help you find out.
  6. Confirm your billing information and add a valid payment method.
  7. Tap or click Join."

If that's not working as expected, we'd recommend contacting Apple Support here: Get Support
