Siri Workout announcements volume too low

I just upgraded from the Series 3 to Series 7, and it feels like Siri’s Workout announcements (1 km, ring closed, etc) are spoken at a lower volume than on my Series 3. Regardless, the volume is far too low (**note: my alerts volume is set to the max!!**)

When I walk alone I use my AirPods to listen to music from my phone, but more often than not I don’t walk alone and then I quite obviously don’t use AirPods. This is very frustrating to me, I love these alerts and basically being unable to hear them is driving me insane. 

Please help.
