Two HD volumes after reinstalling Mac OS

Hallo,

My apologies if this had been discussed already.

I have a MacBook Pro 13 2017 and after updating the OS to Ventura, I was dissatisfied (i.e, Logic Pro X kept crashing). Therefore, I reinstalled Monterey 12.6.1. Everything has been working fine since but I have now two HDs on Disk Utility. In order to pursue the back up with Time Machine, I renamed the new HD data (it's now HD Data2).

Since both HD seem to be the same (I do not think they are two different partitions), I wonder whether I can simply erase one of the two HD without having to reinstall everything again.

I attach a screenshot of Disk Utility.

First, make sure you have a backup.

The following should be a very quick and painless procedure, but you should never mess with these things without a backup.

Select the top "Macintosh HD volumes", control-click and choose Delete APFS Volume.

That's it.

Yes, it is. I am sorry, as I should have continued the same thread.

I think I have sorted now. I tried to drag the files I needed to the desktop first, then I moved them in the desired position. Perhaps, I am still missing something but so far so good.
