My imac is getting slow. It was recommended I get lacie mobile SSD secure external SSD drive. I did. I am having trouble getting it to work. The toolkit says it is syncing, but when I look for my files, I can't find it. I have downloaded all the recommended files. I think I have downloaded to many. Can you help me?

I'm so happy that you're noticing a speed increase, but that's not using the external SSD as a startup disk.
Using the LaCie as the startup disk is what will dramatically increase your system performance.

If you want to clone your boot drive to the external SSD use Carbon Copy Cloner. Before cloning erase the external drive as APFS with GUID Partition Map:
Then with CCC use the Legacy Bootable Backup Assistant to clone the drive:
So, I've gotten this far and am confused about the next step. Is all I have to do is download 30 day trial of purchase it. open up CCC and run the backup task copy or just backup, then follow the prompts?
I first copied a test file to see if just copying a file onto the lacie SSD to see if I could open the file. Then I went to Photoshop to see if going to the app and finding the file on the lacie SSD I could open the file. Yes, then I copied the remainder of my files onto the lacie SSD. All opened. My imac seems faster and less freezing. Everything is working fine. Thank you!

Don't use LaCie Toolkit for the job. Go ahead and uninstall it: Uninstalling Toolkit.
