Mac Email emails disappear, reappear randomly. No fix. Any news?

I have a problem that it appears many, many other users also have. Emails in Mac email disappear and usually reappear at some point. Sometimes closing mail and re-opening it triggers the reappearance. Sometimes restarting does. Sometimes they will appear after doing one of these then instantly disappear again. Today I had no new emails showing in my in-box (I knew that there were new emails from logging onto email server directly). Then they appeared, but all the old ones disappeared :/

The rebuild mails box option does not fix this. This is not a case of someone else logging into my account and deleting emails, or emails going into junk, or someone else messing around with my computer or any of the other suggestions that you find if you Google this. There is clearly a significant problem with the software for this to be affecting so many people.

So, my question is, does anyone know if Apple are working to fix this? It's a problem that people have been posting about for many years now and it appeared after a software upgrade (sorry I forget which). The only thing that I feel can solve it otherwise is to stop using Mac Mail but I'm open to other suggestions.

I have given them feedback on this many times through the

link you have given. I have also had 3 unsuccessful conversations with Apple

support in an attempt to sort it out. So, I can't speak for anyone else, but

they have definitely heard it from me.

I realise this is a user forum - often there are user’s out there who have helpful knowledge,  which is why people use user forums.

I don’t know if it was your intention, but your reply was unnecessarily patronising and insulting to both myself and many others. You have assumed, without cause, that this problem is because: a) I and others haven't reported it; b) We are dinosaurs who can't change the way I do things or; c) can't read a set-up guide – despite the fact that I even said that I had Googled the issue and actioned many suggested fixes. Just to be clear, when you Google something to do with Apple it takes you straight to Apple’s own guides.

Apple is a business not a charity. They don't 'give' us free software, we pay for it, as we do all of their ‘free’ products and services, when we purchase the hardware.

I'm now using an alternative with no problems.

What OS are you on & how much free space is on your HDD?

What you're describing is usualy a corruption or lack of resources issue.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

If you have no POP accounts & they’re all IMAP accounts then in Mail’s Mailbox menu choose Rebuild.

Hi Ann Owen,

Seems Apple made some changes in the Mail App in MacOS Ventura.

Re: So, my question is, does anyone know if Apple are working to fix this?

Few people, if any, in this community, know for sure what Apple's next moves are.

We are all Apple users, like yourself, and Apple does not read what we post.

Wondering how many people have taken the time to send feedback to Apple.

If plenty have, then we are likely to see any necessary changes in a future update.

There's a web-form online for feedback, & Apple will see the extent of a problem.

It's up to us to let Apple know if something doesn't work for us:

eg: in our particular combination of hardware and software.

Web form: Feedback - Mail - Apple

With each new update, some things may work differently, yet our old ways of doing things might need updating too, to adjust.

The Mail User Guide for Ventura, explains in detail how things are set up to work.

There's a "Table of Contents" to click at the top of the "Welcome" page that opens.

It is easy to find all the topics, leading to detailed articles on every aspect of Mail.

We are fortunate to have free software from Apple, and, in the main, well-documented procedures in how to use it all. I, for one, am grateful for that.

We are free to purchase / download / alternative apps, yet is not necessary to do so.

All the best :-)

Thank you kindly for your reply, and comments, Ann Owen.

Am grateful to hear your opinion, and glad to know you hadn't left Apple out of the picture. I do know Apple wants people to be happy with their products and services.

Profound apologies, if anything I said was offensive to you. From my point of view I hoped to merely state the facts.

Often it is unnecessary third-party (non-Apple) apps like ad-blockers, virus-checkers, and the like, which cause interference, and can take some tracking down. Yet we can not know anyone's level of expertise, or command of the English language, in our world-wide community. We generally need to rule out more obvious causes first, and get the discussion underway. Thank you for sharing your solution.

Thank you, and I'm also sorry.

I think my frustration is that whenever I post, no matter how careful I am to be clear on the steps that I have taken, and on the question that I am asking (in the hope of not having to repeat myself later) more often than not the assumption is that I'm an idiot, the question is then ignored and I am forced to repeat myself anyway - which just wastes everyone's time and effort.

But I'm sorry if I overreacted. I just hoped that someone might know something about whether this is a known problem that Apple are working to fix. As I said initially, there are sufficient people experiencing this same issue (who have also tried every fix on offer) that it's clearly a problem beyond used error.

I can at least access the missing emails through the library, it's just a huge faff to find them but they are there. As I say though, I have finally conceded defeat with Apple Mail and I'm using something else now. :o)
